Are you doing it regularly?

According to sources published today, Britons can expect to live longer than Americans. Now, to me, this is not surprising given we are hearing constantly that the fat burger is the staple diet of most Americans; what is more of a surprise is that it should hit the front pages. I suspect that this is more because it is an opportunity to contrast the results of the publicly funded NHS with the privately funded US health system. Anyway, no politics here…

But hang on, what age can we now expect to live to? Should we eke out our meager pensions because they now have to last us until we’re 110? Not quite – a baby boy born in the UK in 2007 could expect to live for 77.7 years, and a girl to 81.9 years. I think I’ll still blow the kids inheritance on that cruise.

Having said that, I’m trying to do my bit to stop the kids getting their hands on my money prematurely by keeping to a fairly strict exercise regime. And it seems to be paying off, at least in terms of feeling stronger, less achy, more positive about life and with much more energy. A little bit on a regular basis, slowly building, seems to be working, and not too onerous. In fact, it gets easier, particularly if you have a plan, and you don’t have to think too much about it. But I do have to work at it, and commit to it.

It’s the same with social media marketing. Doing it regularly, engaging, a little bit at a time, ensures you build a presence, trust, and long term relationships with existing and prospective customers. It makes your business stronger. But it takes time and commitment.

Now, back to the nation’s health -  rather than feeling good about this, we should all be taking a leaf out of Georgia’s book – here’s a video showing a sprightly Georgian lady who is, apparently, 130 years old. She must have been doing something right! Have you any tips for longevity?
